fall hike 2013 sc dancerThe fall hiking season is here!  For those of you who have been waiting to enjoy outdoor yoga amid cooler temperatures and the changing leaves, your time has arrived!  We will continue with our weekend yoga hiking schedule through October at our two most popular locations in Rock Creek Park (Woodley Park entrance to Rock Creek across the street from Open City restaurant AND Peirce Mill location between Cleveland Park, Van Ness, and Mt. Pleasant at the intersection of Tilden Rd, Park Rd, and Beach Drive).  So grab your friends, fill that water bottle with cider and hit the trails with us!  (Kidding! Bring water on the hike and have the cider and donuts in your car for after!).

Meet Yoga Hikes Instructor, Krista Mason

kristaRW

Krista was practically born with a love for hiking and the outdoors.  Camping, backpacking, hiking and cross-country skiing were all a regular and favorite parts of her childhood and naturally rolled into adulthood.  She has always found solace and rest in the quiet of the woods and her love for being in nature is fierce.  You will often find Krista, her boys and her dog wandering through Rock Creek after school on any given day of the week.  Krista discovered yoga eight years ago as a mother of two young children and a frequently deployed husband and is forever grateful for that discovery. She loves the beauty and joy found in and through yoga and the peace that continues on and spills over through life.  Through moves, job changes, and eventually moving away from military life the love for yoga stuck with her.  She teaches an alignment-based Vinyasa style Hatha class and will frequently be found telling her students to “listen to their own bodies.” Krista teaches a joy-filled class and always loves when her students leave a little more peaceful and relaxed then when they came in.  The opportunity to marry her love for yoga and her love for hiking and the outdoors is one that fills Krista with excitement.  On the weekends you may find Krista going on bike rides, hikes, or cross-country skiing with her husband and kids. Krista received her RYT-200 through Sky House Yoga and is so grateful for her teachers and all she has learned through them.
