Nature Yoga Hikes – 90 minutes

Nature Yoga Hikes are a combination of trails and road hiking, so appropriate footwear is mandatory.  You should arrive dressed and ready to hike and practice yoga for 90 minutes (approximately 45 minutes of yoga and 45 minutes of hiking).  Nature hikes are on dirt trails which requires core work.  You should have a healthy sense of balance and stability to participate in a Nature Hike and be able to keep a steady hiking pace.  Though the yoga is open level, due to the hills and uneven terrain, the hiking is considered moderate.  Most Nature Yoga Hikes start and end at two locations:

Woodley Park (Rock Creek Park/Dumbarton Oaks/Montrose Parks) – This hike begins at the Woodley Park entrance to Rock Creek Parkway at the intersection of 24th and Calvert Street.  Note that the Woodley Park starting point is only a half block south of the Woodley Park Metro.  If you are driving to this location, plan on parking several blocks away and walking to the site (give yourself at least 15 minutes to do this!).

Pierce Mill (Rock Creek Park) – This hike begins in the field adjacent to the main Pierce Mill parking lot (at the intersection of Tilden St., Beach Drive, and Park Rd NW).   The Pierce Mill starting point has ample free parking as there are three free parking lots surrounding Pierce Mill Barn. The closest parking lot is at the restroom area on Shoemaker St. NW  If you come by Metro it is approximately a 15-20 minute walk from the Van Ness Metro. Peirce Mill location also has public restrooms and water fountains  available adjacent to this parking area.  Bringing your own water bottle is encouraged.
